about

So rather than put out an EP of remixes using the same vocal, I decided to record a new set of vocals for each version of the track. (Well, this isn't entirely true: the vocal on the Main Mix is the same as the vocal on the Extended Mix.) This let me experiment with how I wanted the vocal to sound based on the overall feel I was going for with each version - so the vocal on the Main Mix is poppier than the vocal on the Meeds Nust mix. I like it that the phrasing is slightly different in each version, that the ad libs change from remix to remix - it made the process of recording the EP much more enjoyable.

The tracks are all WAV format.

about

Rick O'Disko Syracuse, New York

Born and raised in Upstate New York, Rick O’Disko has loved dance music for as long as he can remember: “In elementary school, I used to get to class early so that my friends and I could dance to our disco 45s.” At eight years old, he asked for – and received – a strobe light for Christmas. “I set my room up as a discotheque. There was no door policy – just come on in and get down.” ... more
