about

This is the only version that uses the first vocal that I recorded in the studio. I threw this mix together in March 2012 because I was going on a radio show and wanted to give them a taste of the track without giving away the whole shebang. I was struggling with the results of the recording session and really unhappy with my vocal performance, so I used the bits that I liked and tossed the rest. The mix is definitely thrown-together, but it's still kind of fun.

The name of the remix is taken from a line in the Joyce Carol Oates novel, Expensive People.

Rick O'Disko Syracuse, New York

Born and raised in Upstate New York, Rick O’Disko has loved dance music for as long as he can remember: “In elementary school, I used to get to class early so that my friends and I could dance to our disco 45s.” At eight years old, he asked for – and received – a strobe light for Christmas. “I set my room up as a discotheque. There was no door policy – just come on in and get down.” ... more
